United Label Corp. is a Custom Label Manufacturer in Newark, New Jersey. We operate flexographic presses for custom pressure sensitive label manufacturing. This process allows us to print labels with up to six colors. In addition, we offer labels with lamination, varnish and inline die cuts. We make our own printing plates and negatives in our label factory. As a result, we gain greater control over the custom labels we print.
Over 50 years of Custom Label Printing Experience
In 1965, United Label Corporation was founded in downtown Newark, New Jersey. The four founders had years of experience in custom label printing.
The company’s founders saw the need for a higher level of quality and customer service in the custom label business. United Label Corporation has always been responsive our customers’ needs. At United Label Corporation, we believe our valued relationships with our clients is most important.
The late 1960’s was not a fortuitous time. It was especially challenging to found a business in downtown Newark at this time. United Label Corporation had snipers on the roof during the riot of this time period. Eventually, United Label moved out of downtown Newark. They soon built their own factory in Newark’s Ironbound district . This new location was several miles to the west of their original location. United Label has been in Newark’s Ironbound district ever since.
In 1996 John O’Connor joined United Label Corporation. While at the same time, the original company founders began to retire. John started in sales of the company’s custom pressure sensitive labels. John worked his way up to general manager, Finally, John O’Connor became the sole owner of United Label Corporation in 2011.
Flexographic Presses
United Label uses primarily flexographic presses for its custom pressure sensitive label printing. These high speed label presses allow us to print up to six colors, including four color process color. Flexographic presses also allow them to laminate, varnish and die cut in line. Flexographic presses offer an economical alternative to sheet fed presses. United Label makes their own plates and negatives in our Newark, New Jersey factory.
