Eco-Friendly Labels: What Are They and Why You Should Use Them

So what exactly are eco-friendly labels? Eco-friendly labels are labels that are recyclable or renewable or that allow packaging to be easily recycled.

For the most part, this means paper labels and glues that allow a label to be easily removed from the packaging.

Are also more eco-friendly than their plastic counterparts. They are created from a renewable resource while sometimes using soy-based ink.

Thanks to the growing number of consumers who consider themselves to be Earth-friendly, environmentally responsible labels, packaging, and products are all on the rise. And environmentally responsible labels, packaging, and products can be less expensive as well. The trend of eco-friendly shopping seems to be popular amongst the younger consumers, especially millennials.

Eco-labelling is also an effective way of showing the customers what the product is all about. Eco-labelling lessens the environmental impact, promotes waste minimization, and energy efficiency.

Millennials Pay More for Eco-Friendly Items

Most shoppers will often choose the less-expensive option when purchasing a product. However, millennials seem to be skewing that trend. According to The Business Journals, millennials report a greater willingness to pay more for products with ingredients that are sustainable, environmentally friendly, organic or natural, or socially responsible products. About 75 percent of millennials are altering their buying habits with the environment in mind as opposed to other generations.

Stimulate Market Development

When shoppers choose eco-friendly labelled products, the products directly and indirectly impact the supply and demand in the marketplace. Thus, it slowly signals and guides the marketplace to a more environmentally responsible mindset. Increasing or taking away factors stimulate the market in some way, whether it be negative or positive. And that’s exactly what eco-friendly labels are doing. It encourages continuous improvement not only in the consumers but in the producers as well.

Eco-Friendly Labels can be Recycled

Nowadays, recycling has become a major part of everyone’s lives as compared to the world 50 years ago. A large reason as to why people don’t recycle is because they forget to. When someone goes to throw out a piece of trash into the recycling bin, who wants to find and rip off all the labels before they toss it? You may not have to anymore because by combining eco-friendly labels with compostable packaging you can throw it all out together. What if the packaging isn’t recyclable? You can choose certain glues to make labels more easily removable.
